On Spotlight: Rakid

Welcome back, dragonbonded,

Today, just as last time, we have new lore to share with you. 

Rakid, to us, is that lingering sensation of a job interrupted by outside forces. The painful sense of incompletion that eventually leads to a lingering sensation of "what is the point."

We hope you find her as chilling as we do.

Rakid the Slithering Sorceress, Thief of Purpose, Conjuress of Craving

Once a human whose power inspired the schools in the Altanesi empire, Rakid revels in obsession, in the powerful pull of dependence. Her lands are uncomfortably close to the surface, almost intentionally so. A stubborn invitation to those unfortunate to listen. She feasts on the hauntingly incomplete, on the sheer emptiness of facing something eternally just short of completion.

Many of her followers have been by her side for generations, glued by their need to be beside her. In her name, the cult observes their victims descend into mindlessness, after years of lacking and desperately wanting. And they are so easy to miss on the surface and even across the Hollowdepths.

Rakidia

Hidden under crevices and behind the narrow passages of the Hollowdepths’ upper caves, Rakidia is the tantalizing prize just below the first darkness. Rakidia is the second highest realm of the Hollowdepths, only below the jagged Thornmarches - For once a traveler is past pain, they reach craving.

Rakidia is an explorer’s first encounter with the Hollowdepths’ impossible natural laws, as its very environment creates multi-dimensional landscapes and impossible structures, where boulders have bulbous eyes and staircases stand on thin air. Above all else, Rakidia seems incomplete—an idea in progress, an unfinished structure; a tantalizing project, always only a few steps short of completion.

On Spotlight: Assamiel

Welcome back, dragonbonded

Our campaign is still going strong and we are truly excited to see your prints and painting of the Daimoi in the Hollowdepths in the near future.

Today, we bring the first of many posts that will focus on the lore of our creations. We want to show off the world we're building, to be honest.  We also want everyone in our community to make our world theirs, to create stories, fanart and headcanons to their heart's content. What better way to do this than by getting you invested from the get go.

Assamiel, the Winged Sun, First Above All, Archon of Awe

Oh, but to witness a fraction of Assamiel. For he truly is the Archon of Awe. Assamiel was the first of Daimos. Far from their creator, but an example to follow. So vast is his presence, and so entrancing his being. Their trembling legs, their mouths agape, their pupils dilating way past the iris. All of this nurtures him.

When one is sacrificed to Assamiel, the admirations and hopes, the love and despair, all flow into Assamiel, to whom they are directed. The rest, whatever remains of one sacrifice’s identity becomes locked in the statues and structures of Assamia. Their cries of fear, pain and entranced detachment only make them all the more beautiful. All the more revering of Assamiel.

Assamia

This territory is dotted with great cities and temples of magnificent, alien architecture, decorated with breathtaking daimonic patterns and motifs of Assamiel’s symbols, such as the wings, sun and eye. These structures are isolated, linked among themselves only by seemingly natural mineral bridges with the vague shapes of feathers linked together.

Being among the deepest levels of the Hollowdepths, the region of Assamia is covered by pitch darkness, a gloom so thick that no surface light can break it. In this blind shadow, only Assamiel’s walls and bridges stand out as beacons of light and warmth, luring travelers in to partake of their majesty and remain forever spellbound in the grandeur that is Assamiel.

Prints unlocked! Painting contest coming

Hello dragonbonded!

We are back with more fantastic news. Yesterday you unlocked the prints for the physical miniatures and extra content for the PDF bundle all backers get. Each Daimos will come with their full color art print, lore and 5e stats for RPG. 

The next stretch goal is an exciting one: a new Daimos STL file will be unlocked to all reward tiers that include the Daimoi STL bundle!

The mother and Caretaker of the Poisoned Gardens is Bellindra the Beautiful, a massive plant-like Daimos who feeds on her garden’s eternal cycle of predator and prey. She represents the sensation of imminent danger, that threat just beyond sight that forces mortals to keep moving, keep looking around, all in vain. Because the Kiss of Bellindra always arrives, and it’s always deadly.

The STL for Bellindra the Beautiful will become unlocked when we reach $20,000 USD in pledges.

Painting competition is coming

This week we plan to work on the bust for Assamiel and upload the STL as a free download. As in our past painting competitions, we plan to have 2 winners.

One of them will be the best paintjob as elected by our creative director (among the finalists which will be voted by you).

The other will be a random entry so everyone has a chance to win regardless of their painting skill level.

The prize will be a physical copy of Heroes of Valerna resin miniatures (with the option to change for any other STL bundle or PDF book from the ones we have published in the past if the winner prefers).

Zamanu joins the fold!

Hello, dragonbonded!

We are so thankful for how the campaign is evolving and that the first stretch goal was reached in less than 5 hours after launching!

A new resin miniature joins the Heroes of Valerna: Zamanu, our Nwoda captain. Our campaign continues to evolve and new miniatures, 3D files and more surprises are joining our list.

Sky dwarves came to be as a result of the Dreambleed. They fly around Valerna on their shardships—enormous ships made from a part of the birthstone gem, which itself floats around the desert to the South of Nahuac. Adventurous, organized in their decentralized nature, the Nwoda have a very well established spot among the realms of Valerna.

The Nwoda are regarded as agile, keen-eyed adventurers who share stories and trade merchandise of all sorts everywhere in Valerna. As creatures so physically altered by the cataclysm, all nwoda can control their falls. They share the very energy that allows their birthstone and their shardships to float in the air.  Regardless of their profession or the aims of their crew, nwoda share a traveling, curious nature.

Up next comes additional information about our resin Daimoi. What better way to truly see your painting at work than pitting foolish adventurers against it? Bring a whole new level of excitement to your table with the 5th edition stats of our starring Daimoi.

The RPG stat blocks using the 5th edition rules of the world’s most famous role playing game become unlocked when we reach 15,000 USD in pledges. 

Having funded our campaign, more STLs are coming our way. We can only dig deeper to learn more about the Hollowdepths.

You did it!

The Demons of the Hollowdepths are officially coming through. Thank you so much for your support and trust. We still have many gargantuan resin miniatures up for the taking.

When we first created the great Azhurmas we released through Great Wyrms of Drakha, it was one of many steps in our development of the world of Dragonbond. We had the bigger, expected evil, but we still needed something to keep Valerna thinking on its knees time and again. With the funding of the Demons of the Hollowdepths, the world of Valerna just got a bit more interesting, and with more room for new stories to fill.

From this point on, let the stretch goals begin.

First up is Zamanu, one of our favorite characters from the Heroes of Valerna intro pack of our Dragonbond Tribe. A Nwoda sky dwarf bard ready to see every possible corner of Valerna and whatever hides beneath.

The physical Zamanu resin miniature will unlock when we reach 10,000 USD in pledges.

Remember that each of our stretch goals is linked to a particular reward, be it a resin pack or STL bundle. Zamanu, for instance, will enter our Heroes of Valerna resin pack, which can be added to physical pledges. The Heroes of Valerna resin pack is also available as a $30 USD add-on for all pledges

Hollowdepths

Venture not too deep into the caves. Things worse than dragons await. At least during the raids you know what will happen to you.

A wise godao’s advice.

The world of dragonbond is one in constant turmoil. There is a constant clash of political forces between the realms. To make things worse every 27 years, dragon raids from the nearby planet of Drakha claim the lives of millions, all for the energy that resides in the core of each Valernian. Alas, deeper, stranger perils reside in Valerna.

The ground rumbles every so often. It is a light tremor, barely perceptible to most, but those who have felt them never forget. Below the vast expanse of land that makes up the lands of Valerna, and arguably the rest of Rhaava, stirs true terror. Deep within the planet’s ever expanding core, lies a murmur known in a primal sense to all, and shunned by the fearful.

The Hollowdepths are a deep and twisting network of enormous caverns that reach down into Rhaava’s core and the abyss that lies within.  The dark, twisting nether is filled with bioluminescent creatures and plants, as well as fires and other, less comprehensible sources of limited light. The walls reverberate the tortured cries and silent throes. A damning sensation of being overwhelmed by an invisible foe coats all who dare meander the halls.

These tunnels are filled with folk who once witnessed the stars in the nighttime. People who simply didn’t fit the surface. People who saw but little promise in the empires that littered the history of Valerna, but who thrived past their limits below the ground. Below, they found the ancient creatures that once roamed Valerna, brimming with the fierce energy from which the dragons had once been banished. Alas, that Vaala, for this is its name, was old, being taken from its most pure form, became rotten within its new hosts.

They rose, forever changed, vastly more powerful than they ever imagined. Each Daimos took their claim to the levels that make the Hollowdepths and built their realms to fill as they may.

Once more, we want to thank you for coming this far with us. The Hollowdepths are home for more Daimoi. and perhaps with campaigns like this, we can meet them all in time.
